I'm James Hogan. I am a writer, a filmmaker, and an artist. For many years I worked as a union dairyman until one day I decided to go back to school and try my hand at video production. I have found that collaborating to achieve an artistic goal or to create a video project is what I want to do with my life. I have earned a Certificate in Media Production, a writing recognition award, and working towards my Associates in Arts at Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois.
In my free time I try to keep up on my education by trying to be around film sets as much as possible, I watch film technique tutorials, and view as many movies and behind the scenes as I can to keep up on what is going on in film. I am also a voracious reader and write short stories and screenplays for fun. My current hobby is a project where I take pictures of my city, Rockford, Illinois. It is called Reflections of Rockford.

I served in the United States Army as a heavy wheeled vehicle mechanic and wrecker operator. After that I spent many years doing factory work. I am no stranger to hard work and long hours. I quit the factory to go to college. Since taking classes at Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois, I have been given the opportunity to try several different jobs in the field of video production. I have had a few of my screenplays turned into short films, I have taken on the role of director several times, I have recorded sound for film, done light sound design with ProTools, production duties, editing with Adobe Premiere, I have some camera experience, and have done plenty of grip work.
I do freelance work for Vixen Productions in Rockford, Illinois. For Vixen, I film commercials and corporate videos, local firefighting training videos, edit online ads, plays and dance recitals, and have shot a lot of weddings. I also write scripts to pitch for commercial ideas. If given the opportunity to work in the film industry I would bring with me a strong work ethic, great ideas, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work well with others.
